We are blessed with a home that lacks a front closet. So we got this hall tree. The bench is great for storing shoes. I definitely like the safety hinges. The wood is pretty heavy, and my toddlers are very good at opening the bench. Their fingers are safe. I also like the top ledge. This adds extra storage space. I got some plastic decorative bins and use them to store my kids hats, mittens and scarves on the ledge. I also like that the hooks are doubled. It's nice to be able to put small bags under the coats. This helps our entrance area appear uncluttered.
The color is definitely darker than the picture, but I have a small entrance area with no other furniture. I think it looks lovely, and we've gotten a lot of compliments on it.
