I received this item for our entryway, which is quite large but not big enough for any real furniture. This Hall Tree is smaller than I expected, but it still fits well.
All of the pieces were in the box and nothing was damaged upon arrival. The pieces were "dirty," as I have heard others complain about, but this was a result of the protective styrofoam, and it is easily cleaned with a cloth.
This piece of furniture took me about 1 and a half hours to assemble. It would have been useful to have someone to help. I have assembled a lot of furniture (headboards, dressers, TV stands, bookshelves, etc) and this was by far the most difficult. The pieces do not fit together perfectly, and sometimes the pre-installed wooden dowels were too large for their intended holes. Also, the back piece comes in 4 large pieces, plus two side pieces and the top shelf. The four large pieces felt very wobbly once fitted together and I was concerned that they were going to break before I was able to attach the side pieces and top shelf. However, once assembled it was sturdy. Be prepared to use a hammer (with a towel protecting the furniture) to make the dowels fit into the holes.
Even with all the difficulties with assembly, I am happy that I made this purchase. It is very sturdy and has adjustable feet to make sure it doesn't tip if your floor is not even.
